Draft standard for AS/NZS ISO 9999:2022 Assistive products — Response due 16th December 2022

By November 16th, 2022No Comments

A number of AT products, have been excluded or moved/combined with other codes.   In some cases the codes themselves have been changed.  This information is provided in Annex C in the consultation link provided below – the current standards are listed in the first column headed 6th edition and the new ones are in the column headed 7th Edition.   ATSA suggests members check to ensure the AT you provide is still included in the revised 7th edition standards.

The definitions in Section 5 may assist you in locating any AT that has been changed. For example, Seat cushions and underlays was coded as 18 10 06 in the 6th edition and now seems to be covered as Seat cushions and underlays code 04 33 03 in the 6th and 7th edition column of the table in Annex C.   Many of the AT training products appear to have been deleted altogether from the new edition, however, they may be included in the class covering their primary function.  To read the proposed changes please to the AT Standards please go to https://comment.standards.org.au/Drafts/175869b9-fa16-4158-aaa4-f6642d3e8f11

If you have any particular concerns you would like ATSA to raise on behalf of our sector, please contact Margaret Noonan on margaret.noonan@atsa.org.au by the 2nd of December 2022.

The changes in the codes shown in the table in Annex C of the proposed revisions Assistive products — Classification and terminology – Standards Australia  could have an impact on the way members work with clinicians/prescribers who may start using the new terms and definitions to describe the AT they are recommending.
