Course Description: National Disability Services provides a series of courses that takes learners through everything disability, from myths and misconceptions to fostering better inclusion the landscape of disability, both past and present, barriers for people with a disability and inclusion.  Areas of study are Rights and responsibilities for participants; provider governance ad operational management; provision of supports; provision of supports environment; Cerebral Palsy Australia, Working with epilepsy, Workforce essentials and Aged Care.

Who should attend this course?  All those working with the NDIS scheme including managers, senior staff, board members, staff working with participants, NDIS participants.

Length of time to complete: Varies based on the course you choose to do.

NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Supporting Communication – free course

Course Description:  This course demonstrates – from the perspective of NDIS participants – what effective communication looks like, and how it supports choice and control.

The module is made up of three topics that provides you with information, scenarios, tips, and practical actions that can be taken to reduce risks associated with the communication support needs of people with disability.

The module looks at:

  • What effective communication looks like and how it supports choice and control.
  • The different ways in which we communicate.
  • Times when effective communication is very important.
  • How workers can support effective communication with people with disability.

Who should attend this course?  All providers working with the NDIS.

Length of time to complete: Approximately 60-90 minutes

Physical Disability Council of NSW – Disability Inclusion Course

Cost $50 per person for 1-20 people.

Course Description:  The aims of this self-paced eLearning course are

  • To enable honest, open discussion and thought, to assist us in working toward the full inclusion of people with disability
  • To challenge mindsets and behaviours
  • To build on your current knowledge

On completion of this course, you will understand how stigmas, behaviours, language, and environments can impact people with disability all while providing examples of changes you and the people around you can make to be more inclusive.

Who should attend this course?  Any organisation, disability service provider and individuals with or without disability, who want to enhance their understanding of disability inclusion.

Length of time to complete: Approximately 3 hours
