Assistive Technology Repairs and Maintenance

AT Tech training and assessment comes to Australia!

ATSA has partnered with ATLAS FIOS USA & DMERT Group International and MySkill NZ to deliver the accredited AT Technician Level 1 and 2 practical training and assessments in Australia and our first courses were held in Sydney, late November 2024.

Feedback from the sector was that technicians in our industry have no formally recognised qualification, and that this was an opportunity to show funders (NDIS/DVA/Aged Care) that ATSA members are willing to ‘lift the bar’ on the way we work, plus recognise the skills and value of these indispensable technicians.

Who should attend this course?  Existing technicians wanting to upskill, and those wanting to work within the industry.

Length of time to complete: Level 1 and Level 2 online courses will each take approximately 10-20 hours to complete full course and can be done at their own pace. However, experienced technicians may choose to undertake the online exam for each level only.

Level 1 and Level 2 practical assessments: Both Level 1 and 2 are half  day courses and can be completed on the same day.

In order to undertake the practical assessment for each level, technicians will firstly need to successfully complete the online course and/or exam through MySkill NZ.  Once either has been completed, they can then undertake the practical (face to face) assessments as well as provide written evidence of 2000 hours (1 year) on the job experience (per level) to finalise their qualification through ATSA.
